John Edwards, with 20 percent, was second choice while Barak Obama and Bill Richardson tied for third place, each with 17 percent. The 42 attendees scattered their votes among the seven active Democratic presidential candidates and even tossed in one for Al Gore for vice president. Obama, who topped Hillary Clinton 22 to 13 in a poll of Kittitas County Democrats a couple weeks ago, was the Yakima Democrats? pick for the vice presidential slot on the 2008 ticket. The Yakima presidential vote: Hillary 11, Edwards 6, Obama 5, Richardson 5, Kucinich 2, and Dodd 1. For vice president: Obama 7, Richardson 5, Edwards, 3, Joe Biden 3, Clinton 3, Kucinich 2, Al Gore 1. County chair Paul George explained that total presidential ballots did not equal 42 as some attendees were uncertain choosing to await results of the Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina caucuses. The post was written by Ron Bonlender in response to a half-house telecast on Yakima's Christian Broadcasting (on Christmas Eve) featuring city council members Micaw Cawley and Bill Lover and moderated by Skip Schoff, a leading figure in Yakima's Religious Right movement. Cawley and Lover are disciples of Tim Eyman, that professional troublemaker and anti-government advocate who has fomented no end of problems for our State. Eyman was booted from a recent city council meeting-a move that Cawley and Lover opposed. You decide after reading the Blog: is the Religious Right wing of Yakima's Republican Party trying to commandeer our city government? pg From yakdems-announce at yakimademocrats.com Mon Dec 31 13:03:41 2007 From: yakdems-announce at yakimademocrats.com (yakdems-announce@yakimademocrats.com) Date: Mon Dec 31 13:20:08 2007 Subject: [Yakima Democrats] [Fwd: Happy New Year] Message-ID: <4779592D.2060905@yakima.net> We have until midnight, tonight (New Year's Eve) to help the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee reach its 2007 financial goal.
