In an interview that will be aired this evening on KAPP-TV, I promoted
our county wide Feb 9th caucuses and provided other caucus comments.
KAPP-TV - channel 2 on cable - will carry the interview on their 5 pm.,
6 p.m. or 6:30 p.m.news casts. Please try to watch.
With the Iowa caucuses under way today, I can not overly emphasize
the importance of our
Yakima County caucuses and the need for volunteers to adequately staff
the sites Feb. 9..
I believe there will be three Democratic candidates in play Feb. 9
and that the county turnout
will be large - larger, I hope - than the 752 declared Democrats who
overran our sites Feb. 7, 2004,
date of our last Presidential Preference.caucuses.
You will recall that Kerry won with 418 votes, to 178 for Dean and
75 for Edwards.
Once again, please set aside time during the next few weeks to
participate in training for the
Feb. 9 caucuses. Please say yes if asked to volunteer
You can do it now by e-mail to: Paul George - pgeorge at yakima.net; or
Leslie Wahl -
reljwahl at msn.com; or Carmen Streiff - cls at bentonrea.com; or Tomas
Villanueva - .
tav at embarqmail.com; or Dany Adolf - sdadolf at embarqmail.com.
The first training session for caucus site coordinators and workers
is scheduled
for noon, Saturday, Jan 12, 2008 in the North Conference Center.
Come Feb. 9, the image of the Yakima County Democratic Party will
be on the line.
With your help, we can make a big success of the caucuses - the
first step in re-electing
Gov. Gregoire, electing a Democratic president and expanding our
majorities in Congress and
the State Legislature.
    Thanks,
pg
