George Fearing graduated from Walla Walla College (now Walla Walla University) with a major in business administration, he went on to the University of Washington Law School, graduating in 1982, and then moved to the Tri-Cities to begin practicing law. Fearing has 25 years of legal experience representing communities, such as cities and counties, as well as individual citizens, in a broad range of cases which emphasize government accountability in our daily lives. Fearing has also provided free legal representation to the disadvantaged throughout his legal career, as well as volunteering his services to numerous church and civic organizations. Fearing has recently moved to Yakima, ?to live and breathe what Yakima is about,? which he has discovered is quite ?cosmopolitan??diverse ethnically, culturally, has a thriving gay community and has much to offer in the arts and culinary arts. He has been pleasantly surprised by the many quality restaurants in Yakima and by the strength of the local Democratic community. It is his opinion that Yakima is central to the Fourth District and has lost the most due to the actions and policies of his opponent, Doc Hastings. Fearing states, ?Doc has supported all those unfair international trade agreements that directly affect the agriculture and manufacturing industries that are vital to Yakima County.? Fearing feels it gives countries like China an unfair advantage because it does not have to comply with the same regulations as our apples do and that Doc?s policies are responsible for the demise of our local asparagus crops as well as contributing to the loss of thousands of manufacturing jobs with the close of several recreational vehicle and aerospace manufacturing plants in Yakima. If elected, Fearing would work to be appointed to the agriculture and energy committees?he would like to see Yakima become the ?alternative energy capital,? he sees many of the manufacturing plants being ?re- tooled? for the burgeoning alternative energy industry. Fearing would work to bring back regulations in the banking industry that Doc worked to get rid of in the 1990s. With his extensive legal experience, knowledge of community organizations and ability to forge lasting working relationships, George Fearing is ready to fight to bring a new direction to our country and to serve the people of the 4th Congressional District with integrity and independence. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... The latest victim was the A.E.Clift residence at 803 North 58th Ave., where Obama, Gregoire and Ybarra signs vanished . During this campaign, Democratic signs are disappearing in record - and alarming - numbers costing the County Party, our members and candidate campaigns more than $3,000. Main targets are the Obama, Gregoire and Ybarra signs. We always expect to lose some campaign signs to theft and vandalism, but this is ridiculous - not to mention against the law.. To date about 300 yard signs and a dozen large (4X8) signs have been stolen or trashed. I have reported this outbreak to the Yakima Police Dept. and the Yakima Sheriff's office. One of our members who lives on Occidental Road near Apple Tree has been victimized twice. This week, he posted his third set of Obama and Gregoire signs on his property. One bizarre incident involved the theft of a large (4X8) Gregoire sign from Teamsters Hall, 1211 W. Lincoln Ave. Because the sign was fastened to the building above the entrance, the thieves had to climb a ladder to tear it down. The Ybarra campaign lost eight large (4X8) signs valued at $161 each plus 100 yard signs. County commissioner candidate Jesse Farias had to replace 100 signs valued at $6 each. Some of the thefts occurred in the Washington Avenue area. Bottom line: please report sign thefts to either the Yakima Police Dept. 575-6200 (refer to case #0817323) or to the Yakima Sheriff's office 574-2500. Ironically, today, we received our final supply of Obama and Gregoire signs at the campaign HQ 469-9268. 17 days remaining before the election. This is our time. When it ended around 4 p.m., the volunteers had visited 4,197 homes, talking up Vickie's qualifications for a 14th LD seat or leaving literature when no one was home. It was a record mass doorbelling event in the district. The bus arrived at Carpenters' Hall at 11 a.m., allowing time for lunch and an organizational run-through. A Mexican dinner, catered by El Porton, awaited the doorbellers when they returned. The Yakima excursion was the 6th time this campaign that the Washington Bus volunteers had visited a Legislative District to doorbell for candidates in tight races. Reception at the Red Gallery, 30 North 3rd Street, Yakima, on Tuesday, October 14 from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. Refreshments will be provided. Donations are encouraged. Call (509) 452-0460 to RSVP. Ybarra, Chris Ramirez and Jesse Farias and their Republican opponents will appear in a candidates' forum at 5:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 20 in the Seasons, 101 North Naches Ave. . The celebration will feature two big screen TVs for nightlong campaign updates, a no host bar, hors d'oeuvres, a patriotic cake and complimentary beer from a special stand. Democrats and supporters from throughout the Valley are cordially invited. Throughout the week, volunteers will be manning the eight telephones at the office phone-banking for all candidates. Other volunteers will continue canvassing and doorbelling through Nov. 3 with the goal of reaching every undecided voter to help elect Barack Obama, Governor Gregoire, George Fearing, Vickie Ybarra, Jesse Farias and Chris Ramirez. Boy, Bill can still give a great speech! We have all shared a unique experience and can "bond" a little more before next November 4th! Join me and other party leaders, campaign volunteers, family and friends to get out the vote here in Yakima County between now and Tuesday. I am taking two days off work to help with the final push and hope you can join me. We need a really good turnout on Saturday since most voters will be filling out their ballots this weekend for mailing on Monday. No need to call or sign up - just show up at the campaign office at 1101 W. Yakima Ave. and we will put you to work. Cone on down and let's have some fun before this exciting campaign season is over!
