    Last night (Oct. 15) three more Democratic yard signs disappeared 
from a member's property.
    The latest victim was the A.E.Clift residence at 803 North 58th 
Ave., where Obama, Gregoire and Ybarra signs vanished .
    During this campaign, Democratic signs are disappearing in record - 
and alarming - numbers costing the County Party,our members and 
candidate campaigns more than $3,000. Main targets are the Obama, 
Gregoire and Ybarra signs.We always expect to lose some campaign signs 
to theft and vandalism, but this is ridiculous - not to mention against 
the law..
    To date about 300 yard signs and a dozen large (4X8) signs have been 
stolen or trashed.
    I have reported this outbreak to the Yakima Police Dept. and the 
Yakima Sheriff's office.
    One of our members who lives on Occidental Road near Apple Tree has 
been victimized twice. This week, he posted his third set of Obama and 
Gregoire signs on his property.
    One bizarre incident involved the theft of a large (4X8) Gregoire 
sign from Teamsters Hall, 1211 W. Lincoln Ave.
Because the sign was fastened to the building above the entrance, the 
thieves had to climb a ladder to tear it down.
    The Ybarra campaign lost eight large (4X8) signs valued at $161 each 
plus 100 yard signs. County commissioner candidate Jesse Farias had to 
replace 100 signs valued at $6 each. Some of the thefts occurred in the 
Washington Avenue area.
    Bottom line: please report sign thefts to either the Yakima Police 
Dept. 575-6200 (refer to case #0817323) or to the Yakima Sheriff's 
office 574-2500.
    Ironically, today, we received our final supply of Obama and 
Gregoire signs at the campaign HQ 469-9268.
