Dear Fellow Democrats,

I write today to tell you why I am supporting Supreme Court Justice =
Susan Owens for re-election to the Washington State Supreme Court. =
Justice Owens does have the endorsement of our state party and we all =
need to tell our friends and neighbors just how important this election =
is for the future of our state.

=20

It is no accident that the Republicans are financing and backing =
challengers to three of our sitting Supreme Court Justices. The =
Republicans now realize that they cannot get control of either the =
Executive or Legislative branch of Washington State government. Be aware =
that their right wing agenda is driving this effort.=20

=20

Justice Owens has been an outstanding and competent and fair Justice in =
her first term on the court. She votes consistently to uphold the rights =
guaranteed to all citizens by the constitution of our state. She does =
not issue opinions because they are popular or the favorite issues of =
special interest groups. She recently took a brave stand and voted to =
uphold the rights of all citizens of Washington State to marry. She did =
not do this out of any personal beliefs but rather from a solid =
constitutional basis. I believe that she follows the constitution, =
issues well thought-out opinions and very much deserves our support in =
both the primary and general election.

I urge you all to not only &quot;spread the word&quot; about Justice Owens but =
volunteer to work on her campaign, host an event for her and by all =
means contribute what you can afford to her campaign. The Republicans =
through their Constitutional Law PAC are raising an enormous amount of =
money to defeat Justice Owens. We must do what we can to assure that =
Justice Owens is returned to the Supreme Court. Equality and Justice for =
all is what is at stake here.
