A New Congress
The next Congress will be the most progressive in over a decade. All but on=
e of the incumbents defeated in the November election got an &quot;F&quot; on CTJ's C=
ongressional Tax Report Card and all were replaced with more progressive me=
mbers.=20

A New Attitude
Americans are less pursuaded by promises of tax breaks that turn out to onl=
y benefit the wealthy, while incoming Congressional leaders promise to put =
the focus back on Americans who actually need a break.

A New Opportunity
Support what James Carville calls the &quot;go-to&quot; organizations when it comes t=
o matters of the economy and tax fairness. Elected officials are taking the=
 tax justice battle cry to heart.


A message from the folks at CTJ and ITEP:

It's still almost too much to believe we have actually elected a Congress t=
hat may finally bring some fairness back into the tax system. Since the ele=
ction, CTJ and ITEP staff have already been asked to the Hill several times=
 to work on tax reforms that will benefit middle- and lower-income earners,=
 as opposed to the budget-busting giveaways to corporations and the wealthy=
 that have been pushed through since 2001. Lawmakers on both sides of the a=
isle are demonstrating renewed interest in reforms that could make the fede=
ral tax system fairer and more sustainable.

We're asking for your help to make real tax reform movement a reality.

ing about the mess we are in.
